Café Bowes, The Bowes Museum
Situated within The Bowes Museum, Café Bowes is a visitor destination in its own right. Access to the Museum park, café and gift shop is free via the main Museum entrance. The café is under new management and now boats an excellent menu of both hot and cold meals and wonderful cakes and scones. Groups are advised to book in advance.

Coach access and parking: Designated coach parking to rear of museum building. Drop off point at front of building by prior arrangement. Coaches also park on roadside outside of Museum gates.

Eggleston Hall Gardens
The Coach House Teashop has delicious meals and refreshments with indoor and outdoor seating. It is set in the grounds of Eggleston Hall adjacent to the gardens and nursery. Access to the plant sales area is free. There is a small charge for access to the gardens. Groups can also be catered for in Eggleston Hall itself and the Coach House can be booked in the evenings.

Jersey Farm Country Hotel & Restaurant
This country hotel is set in 10 acres of farmland. The coffee shop serves Costa Coffee. There is a restaurant, carvery, bar and conservatory and conference facilities. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Groups should book in advance to ensure quick service.
Location: Off A67 on outskirts of Barnard Castle.
Coach access and parking: the access is narrow, but there is a one-way system, so you shouldn’t meet oncoming traffic. There is ample parking at the hotel itself.

Raby Castle, Stable Tearooms
The Stable Tearooms and gift shop are situated in the grounds of Raby Castle and visitors need to purchase a ticket for the Park and Gardens (but not the Castle itself). The formal walled garden is well worth exploring. It has huge original yew hedges, a rose garden, ornamental ponds and excellent views of the Castle which is set in 200 acres of landscaped deer park. The Tearooms serves excellent light lunches and cakes.

Coach access and parking: free coach and car parking is available opposite the pay kiosk. Coaches may drop off visitors at the entrance to the Castle.

Thorpe Farm Peel House
A beautiful Georgian building with a popular country deli, gift shop, coffee shop and restaurant, picnic area and children’s adventure playground. There is good disabled access.
Location: on north side of A66 9 miles west of Scotch Corner near Greta Bridge, before the turn off to Barnard Castle.
